The short answer

There are 102 collectibles: 68 material crates, 20 whisky bottles and 14 Nightmare Doors, plus a hidden 15th trial unlocked after bronzing all 14. None are missable. Mission Replay unlocks once you encounter the second Nightmare Door, so anything skipped can be collected later, and the Crate Finder and Whisky Finder Adaptations mark items through walls from a distance.

The important thing this table hides: none of these are pure checkbox collectibles. Crates buy suits, and suit crafting raises your maximum health. Bottles and Doors feed AP, which is the only source of Adaptation levels. Collecting is progression here, not completion trivia.

Nothing is missable — here is why

Mission Replay unlocks after you encounter the second Nightmare Door, which happens early in the campaign rather than at the end. From that point on, every chapter can be replayed with your current progression intact.

After the credits, replay is accessed from the Nightmare Cabin — reach it from the title screen and interact with the bed to pick a mission.

That single fact removes almost all the pressure. You do not need to sweep each chapter before moving on, you do not need a second playthrough, and you do not need a guide open during a first run. Play the story, then clean up. PowerPyx's roadmap assumes exactly this and puts the whole platinum at 15–20 hours in one playthrough.

The two Adaptations that find everything

Before starting a collectible sweep, slot both of these:

  • Crate Finder — marks material crates through walls at long range
  • Whisky Finder — the same for whisky bottles

With both equipped, a cleanup pass turns into walking a level and following markers rather than cross-referencing a location list. This is the single biggest time saver available and it is why a 102-item sweep only adds a few hours.

Two supporting tools: the Collectible Tracker in the pause menu shows per-chapter counts, so you can see exactly which chapter is short before replaying it, and the Nightmare Cabin displays overall progress.

The trade-off is noise. Both Adaptations widen the detection radius that triggers the blue scent trail, so if the trail is what bothers you, keep them unequipped until the story is done. See the skills guide for where they sit in the tree.

Material crates: 68, and what they are for

Each crate gives 50 materials. Most suits cost 150–250 materials to craft, so roughly three to five crates per suit.

Crafting itself unlocks during the Homecoming chapter — before that, crates still count but you have nothing to spend on. The gold trophy Adamantium Armory wants enough suits crafted to fully upgrade health, which works out at around 20 suits.

Because crates directly buy health upgrades, they are the one collectible worth detouring for during the story rather than after. A crate picked up in chapter three is health you have for the remaining twelve hours; the same crate picked up post-credits is worth nothing but the trophy.

They are hidden in the usual places: side rooms off the critical path, ledges above eye level, behind breakable walls, and in the corners of the hub areas rather than the linear corridors.

Whisky bottles: 20, and the reason to care

Whisky bottles are the narrative collectible. Each one unlocks a fragment of Logan's forgotten past, which makes them the closest thing the game has to the backstory the reviews said the main narrative underdelivers on.

They are also the easiest to find, because a bottle in range triggers its own blue scent trail. That is the mechanic the launch-week complaints are about, and for this specific purpose it is genuinely convenient: walk within range and the game draws you a line.

They pay AP toward Adaptations, so they are progression as well as story. Twenty bottles across the campaign is roughly one to two per chapter.

Nightmare Doors: 14, plus a hidden 15th

These are the highest-value collectible and the one most worth doing on sight. Nightmare Doors are timed combat and traversal trials scored bronze, silver or gold, and faster clears pay better rewards — including additional Adaptation slots.

There is a hidden 15th trial, "Best There Is", which unlocks only after earning at least bronze on all 14. It becomes available after the story, takes five to ten minutes, and ends with a scent trail to follow — it is the last step in PowerPyx's platinum roadmap.

Do not confuse Nightmare Doors with Nightmare Challenges. The Doors are the 14 collectible trials; the Challenges are the separate scored gauntlet mode anchored at the Nightmare Cabin for post-game replay.

The efficient cleanup order

  1. During the story: grab crates you walk past — they are health — and clear every Nightmare Door on sight for the Adaptation slots. Ignore everything else.
  2. At the credits: equip Crate Finder and Whisky Finder.
  3. Open the Collectible Tracker and note which chapters are incomplete.
  4. Replay from the Nightmare Cabin, shortest chapters first, following the markers.
  5. Craft as you go — every 150–250 materials is another suit toward Adamantium Armory.
  6. Bronze the last Nightmare Doors, then run the hidden "Best There Is" trial.

Budget roughly five to seven hours after the credits for all of it. See campaign length for the full time breakdown and the trophy guide for what else the platinum needs.
