Marvel's Wolverine Trailers

This is the trailer to watch if you only watch one. It premiered at San Diego Comic-Con on July 23, 2026 as a full story-focused piece, and it is where the September 15, 2026 date was locked in on a closing card.

Its official framing: unleash your rage and face your past. With the fate of humans and mutants hanging in the balance, Logan knows the world needs a hero — but they will have to settle for him.

Jean Grey appears here, which was the trailer's biggest character reveal. It is also the most complete look at Liam McIntyre's performance as Logan, since it carries the most dialogue of any trailer so far.

PlayStation published it across its main channel and regional channels, and Marvel Entertainment ran its own version.

The June 2, 2026 State of Play showing was the first substantial look at how the game actually plays, and PlayStation published a companion blog post with system details.

What it established:

• Special Techniques including Tornado Spin and Bull Rush
• The Rage system — built by attacking, spendable on empowered moves or the healing factor
• Rage tier 3, presented in a black-and-white monochrome violence style drawn from Marvel's Black, White and Blood comics
• Critical Strikes — finishers performable solo or with a teammate
• A highway motorcycle chase with Logan fighting Reavers between vehicles

The first full trailer landed at the September 24, 2025 State of Play. It confirmed a Fall 2026 window, PS5 exclusivity, and the game's bloody, adult tone — which TechRadar characterised as a deliberately violent spectacle.

Character-wise it put Omega Red and a Sentinel on screen, which was the first hard evidence of the villain roster, and hinted at a story spanning multiple countries.

PlayStation's accompanying blog post is where the "Fall 2026" phrasing originated, before it was narrowed to September 15.

Taken together, the official trailers and their accompanying blog posts confirm the setup. Logan returns to Team X, the unit he left three years earlier, to rescue mutants abducted by the Reavers — cybernetic mercenaries employed by billionaire Bolivar Trask.

Mutants live hidden; society does not broadly know they exist. Jean Grey is introduced as a powerful telepath and the emerging leader of the captured mutants.

PlayStation community manager Aaron Jason Espinoza described the game as a brutal, violent, action-packed single-player adventure paired with an emotionally charged original story. See our villains page for the full confirmed roster.

Watched in order, the trailers show a deliberate progression from tone to substance.

The 2021 teaser sold a mood and nothing else — Logan in a Madripoor bar, no gameplay, no date. It existed to announce that Insomniac had the character.

The September 2025 trailer established stakes and tone: a bloody, adult spectacle with Omega Red and a Sentinel on screen, plus the Fall 2026 window.

The June 2026 gameplay trailer was the substance beat — actual systems, actual combat, pricing and a firm sense of what playing it involves.

The July 2026 cinematic and story trailers returned to character, adding Sabretooth, Lady Deathstrike and Jean Grey and locking the date.

That shape — mood, stakes, systems, characters, date — is the standard first-party sequence, and it means the June gameplay showing remains the most informative single video for anyone deciding whether to buy.

For anyone tracking the roster, the trailers are the primary record of who was confirmed and when.

Two significant characters were not revealed through trailers at all. Nathaniel Essex — Mister Sinister, played by Troy Baker — was confirmed through same-day Variety and Entertainment Weekly interviews in August 2026, as was Kelly Hu's casting as Tyger Tiger.

This campaign mixed CG trailers and gameplay footage, and knowing which is which changes what you should take from each.

The September 2025 reveal was a long CG piece. It communicates tone, characters and stakes, and nothing reliable about how the game plays or looks in motion.

The June 2026 gameplay trailer is the one to judge the game by. It shows actual combat — claw combos, finishers, Rage states and environmental interaction — and PlayStation published a companion blog post detailing the systems behind it.

The July 2026 cinematic and story trailers return to CG and story framing. Excellent for character reveals — Sabretooth, Lady Deathstrike, Jean Grey — and not a performance reference.
