The industry moved to $79.99 for flagship releases across 2025 and 2026. Sony pricing its biggest exclusive of the year at $69.99 was a deliberate choice, not an oversight.

Put against the alternatives, the standard edition is priced one tier below where a launch exclusive of this profile could have sat. Whether that reads as good value depends entirely on the 15-hour campaign — the price-to-length ratio was raised in several reviews and is the most common complaint in player discussion.

Roughly $4.70 per hour on a first playthrough, before New Game Plus or trophy cleanup. That is unremarkable for a premium release and poor value against a 60-hour RPG at the same price. Which framing applies is a personal call.

The Digital Deluxe adds 5 exclusive suits, 5 exclusive claw styles and 3 Technique Points on top of the Standard Edition. Sony classifies the suits and claws as purely cosmetic, and the Technique Points accelerate ability unlocks rather than adding power.

The general recommendation across coverage is Standard, because the base game already contains a large suit roster earned through crafting. The $10 upgrade has no deadline, so you can decide after playing.

Sony launched a Battle Yellow PS5 console bundle, two DualSense designs and a set of console covers alongside the game. These are separate purchases and not editions of the game — buying the console bundle includes the game, buying a controller or cover does not.

Two cautions on chasing a cheaper price:

• Region-switching your PSN account to buy in a cheaper store violates the terms of service and risks your wallet balance and library access. It is not worth $15.
• Third-party key resellers do not sell PS5 games in any meaningful way — PlayStation content is account-bound. Listings that claim otherwise are usually region-locked codes or worse.

The legitimate way to pay less is patience. Sony's first-party exclusives typically see their first real discount within three to six months, and this one launched to a 78 Metascore rather than a 90 — which historically shortens that window rather than lengthening it.
