Debra Wilson voices Callisto, the Morlock leader, in Marvel's Wolverine, and the character's face is modelled on Wilson's own. Why Callisto looks like Debra Wilson
Callisto in Marvel's Wolverine uses Wilson's own facial likeness rather than a design drawn from the comics or the films. That is common in performance-capture games, but Callisto is a long-established X-Men character, and the redesign drew criticism from players after launch.
Wilson addressed it on Joseph Shepherd's podcast in June 2026. The clip resurfaced in mid-October 2026, which is why her name suddenly started trending. As quoted by Destructoid on October 14:
“That choice is made by the game designers, not me. I like games where my face is not used.”
“But if it just looks like me, then how do you get a chance to really escape into a character?”
She also questioned why a well-known X-Men character with so many existing versions was made to look like her, and called it a mistake for her looks to replace the established design. LevelUp reports her pointing to Amanda Waller in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League as another role built on her avatar.
Insomniac has not explained the decision publicly, and the coverage does not say whether Wilson was asked about the likeness before her scan was used. We have not filled that gap with guesses.
Callisto in this game
Callisto is confirmed in the cast, voiced by Debra Wilson, alongside Leech (Noga Wind) — the two Morlock characters on the roster.
In the comics the Morlocks are mutants whose appearance makes passing as human impossible, so they live in tunnels beneath New York rather than in a mansion upstate. Callisto is their leader: not a hero, not a villain, someone running a community that the surface world would rather not look at.
They cluster with the game's other non-Team X characters around Madripoor and the sanctuary, rather than the Canadian first act.
Why a Morlock, and not an X-Man
This is the part worth understanding, because it explains most of the cast list at once.
Insomniac confirmed to Game Informer that the game is set before the X-Men exist as a team. That single decision rules out the entire classic lineup — which is why Psylocke is not in it, and why the confirmed roster instead draws on three groups that make sense without an X-Men:
- Team X — Logan, Sabretooth, Mystique, and Nathaniel Essex leading them
- The Morlocks — Callisto and Leech, mutants hiding rather than organising
- Alpha Flight — Walter Langkowski, fitting the Canadian setting
Casting Callisto is therefore not a deep cut for its own sake. In a story about mutants who have nowhere institutional to go, the leader of the mutants who live underground is close to the thematic centre. Our roster page has the full list.
Where you know her from
Wilson came to games from sketch comedy — she was a cast member on MADtv for its first six seasons — and has since become one of the busiest performers in the medium, largely through performance capture rather than voice alone.
The role most players will recognise is Cere Junda, the former Jedi who anchors Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor. She also played Amanda Waller in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, another character given her likeness.
That is a useful comparison for what she is likely doing here: Cere is a survivor of an extermination, leading people through the aftermath of it. Callisto is written from much the same place.
