The short answer

As of October 9, 2026, Insomniac and Sony have not announced any story DLC, expansion or season pass for Marvel's Wolverine. The only add-on content is cosmetic: the Digital Deluxe Edition's five suits and five claw styles, the pre-order bonuses, and early unlocks such as the Disney+ Yellow Variant suit. Since launch Insomniac has shipped free patches only. Its record points both ways: Marvel's Spider-Man (2018) got a three-part story DLC, while Insomniac said in October 2024 it had no further story content planned for Spider-Man 2.

What add-on content exists today

Everything you can currently add to the game is cosmetic or an early unlock. There is nothing that extends the story.

Add-onWhat you getHow
Digital Deluxe Edition5 exclusive suits, 5 exclusive claw styles, 3 Technique Points$79.99, or a $10 upgrade from Standard
Pre-order bonusClassic Brown Suit and Reflective Claws early, 1 Technique Point, 4 avatarsIncluded with launch pre-orders
Yellow Variant suit (Disney+)Early unlock of a suit everyone earns in-game within about an hourDisney+ promotion, limited regions
MARVEL Tōkon collaboration suitCross-promotion costumePart of the suit roster — see costumes

The Disney+ offer is the one that confuses people, because it was widely described as "free DLC". It is not extra content: GamingBible confirmed the Yellow Variant is unlockable in-game for everyone, and the promotion only hands it over early. It was also region-limited — available in the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Argentina and Mexico, but not the UK, and with some Canadian regions blocked.

Note what is not on the list. The Digital Deluxe Edition includes no season pass and no promise of future content, which is the first place a publisher normally signals planned DLC.

What Insomniac has said since launch

Nothing about DLC. Insomniac's only public statement on the game's reception said the team was proud of it and was gathering feedback to refine the player experience, with changes planned "in the coming weeks and months". That is a commitment to patches, and the patches have followed:

  • Update 1.001.006 (September 25) and 1.002.001 (October 6) made the scent trail switchable.
  • Update 1.002.000 (October 1) moved base PS5 onto Sony's QSSR upscaler.

All of it free, and all of it fixes or options rather than content. The full list is on our patch notes page. If a story expansion were close, the first public sign would most likely be a PlayStation Store add-on listing or a PlayStation Blog post — neither exists.

Insomniac's record: one yes, one no

The studio's last three Marvel games split cleanly on story DLC, which is why both "it is coming" and "it is not" get repeated with confidence:

GameStory DLC
Marvel's Spider-Man (2018)Yes — The City That Never Sleeps, three episodes released October to December 2018
Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales (2020)No — itself a smaller standalone release
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 (2023)No — Insomniac said in October 2024 it had "no additional story content planned"
Marvel's Wolverine (2026)Nothing announced

The Spider-Man 2 case is the more recent and the more telling. Story add-ons had been planned for it — they showed up in the December 2023 Insomniac data leak — and they never shipped. Coverage at the time read the decision as Insomniac moving its people onto Wolverine and its other Marvel projects. Insomniac is now a studio with several Marvel games in production at once, which makes post-launch story work harder to staff than it was in 2018.

What the ending leaves open

Mild spoilers. The game does not end cleanly, and that is where most DLC speculation comes from. Apocalypse is never defeated, and the first post-credits scene has Sabretooth, following Apocalypse's voice in his head, uncovering an intact Helix Engine.

That is a strong hook, but it reads more like a sequel setup than a DLC one. The open threads are large — a villain at full strength and a second mutant under his influence — and the game is set before the X-Men exist, which is the point any follow-up would most naturally move past. Insomniac's licensing deal with Marvel covers X-Men games, and the leaked 2023 roadmap pointed to an X-Men title around 2030. None of those plans are official, and none of them describe Wolverine DLC.

What players are asking for

The most repeated requests in coverage and on forums, none of which has any official backing:

  • A Hulk expansion — a nod to Wolverine's first comic appearance fighting the Hulk in the Canadian wilderness.
  • Daredevil — because the Hand already appear in the Japan and Madripoor chapters.
  • Deadpool — on the strength of the Deadpool & Wolverine film suit already in the game.
  • Playable Jean Grey — given how much of the late story runs through her. See Jean Grey.

Treat any video or article listing "confirmed" DLC characters the same way you would a "PC confirmed" claim: if it is not on the PlayStation Blog or the PlayStation Store, it is not confirmed.

What there is to play after the credits

If you finished the story and came here looking for more, the post-game is bigger than most players realise:

  • New Game Plus carries over your unlocks and adds Techniques and level caps you cannot reach in a first run.
  • Clearing all 14 Nightmare Door trials at bronze or better unlocks the second post-credits scene, and a fifteenth trial appears once the story is over.
  • Mission Replay reopens every mission for collectibles and trophies — nothing is permanently missable.

We will update this page as soon as Sony or Insomniac announces anything. Until then, the honest answer is that no expansion exists and none has been promised.
