There is no official Marvel's Wolverine PC port. The PC build reported in early October 2026 is an unauthorized solo project: a Reddit user says they used source code stolen in the December 2023 Insomniac ransomware breach, plus AI-written scripts, to produce a native Windows executable. It is unstable, textures are missing and Logan's head is switched off. It is built from an early development version, not the September 2026 retail game, and Sony has not announced a PC release.

What was reported in October
On October 5, 2026, Tom's Hardware reported that a Reddit user posting as u/Clean-Market5761 had got Marvel's Wolverine running on a Windows PC. The claim was not emulation. The developer says they produced a native PC executable by studying the code that leaked after the December 2023 Rhysida ransomware attack on Insomniac Games.
The developer also said they used AI for parts of the job — writing scripts and automating asset conversion — while the rest was manual trial and error. That detail is where most of the attention came from: it is one of the first widely covered cases of a person using AI tooling to rebuild a leaked console game for PC.
A day later, iXBT.games reported on the same wave of attempts, including efforts to boot the game through PS5 emulation software, with heavy performance problems.
Why Logan has no head
The screenshot that travelled furthest shows Wolverine in a level with no head at all. The developer's explanation is technical, not a joke: the PS5 shader library the game uses to render hair was never ported, and loading it froze the build. Disabling the whole head asset was the shortcut that let the game run.
The rest of the picture matches that kind of shortcut. Reports describe the build as unstable, with textures missing across the scenes shown. No frame-rate figures were published, and nothing suggests the build can be played start to finish.
| Claim | Status |
|---|---|
| Runs as a native PC executable | Developer's claim, reported by Tom's Hardware |
| Built from the 2023 leaked code | Developer's claim |
| AI used for scripts and asset conversion | Developer's own admission |
| Missing textures, no head on Logan | Visible in the shared screenshots |
| Full campaign playable | Not claimed, not shown |
| Independently verified | No |
Is it even new footage?
Not everyone accepts the screenshots. Commenters pointed out that early Wolverine footage from the 2023 leak has circulated for almost three years, and argued that some of the images could be old development captures rather than a fresh PC build. The developer disputes that.
No outlet has run the build itself, and no download has been verified by a third party. Treat the story as a single developer's claim with partial evidence — interesting, but unconfirmed.
It is not the game in the shops
Even if every claim holds up, this is not a PC version of the game that launched on September 15, 2026. The leak predates release by almost three years. What the attackers published was early development material — the same haul that produced the Milestone 13 build and the leaked gameplay footage.
That build has none of the post-launch work: no day-one patch, none of the five updates, no QSSR upscaler and no Senses toggles. Its story content, mission flow and combat tuning sit years away from retail. Anyone who has finished the PS5 game would be looking at an unfinished sketch of it.
Should you look for a download?
No, for three practical reasons:
- It is stolen code. The source came from a criminal ransomware leak. There is no legitimate way to obtain or share it, and we do not link to any copy.
- Leaked builds are a malware magnet. When a playable Wolverine dev build first circulated in 2023, outlets warned players not to run it, and fake "leaked build" downloads followed. Any file sold or shared as "Wolverine PC" today deserves the same suspicion.
- There is nothing to play. A headless, texture-less early build is not a substitute for the game.
If you want to play on a computer screen legitimately, the only route is PS Remote Play from a PS5 you own — covered on our PC options page.
Does this make an official port more likely?
No. Sony has not announced a PC version, there is no Steam or Epic store page, and the PlayStation listing still shows PS5 only. A fan project built from stolen data changes none of that.
The bigger obstacle is policy. In May 2026 PCWorld reported that Sony would stop porting its large single-player story games to PC — the category Wolverine sits in. Our PC version page covers that decision, and the PC release date page explains why the "late 2027" estimate people quote is guesswork.
And if a spec sheet for this build turns up, ignore it. There are still no official system requirements, because there is still no official PC game.
Article text draws on the official channels and press reporting listed in the sources below. Where a figure is an estimate or a claim is unconfirmed, the page says so rather than presenting it as fact. Last research pass: October 18, 2026.
